In Our Bones
In collaboration with the ever-talented writer, Anna Bailey.
part two
There’s no use for being this way,
For dreaming that you’re kneeling in front of something so good and loved.
When you wake, there is nothing but terror in your bones;
you’ve never known something that soft, never a love that’s been so full of you, you, you.
For dreaming that the hollow part of your chest becomes a door.
When you wake, your front door is unlocked;
it leads to an emptiness, a galaxy—the place where your heart goes.
The lesson in waking is: every person shoved inside your heart out of the desire to be understood
is another nightmare waiting to occur.
